1972: Learning from Edsger Dijkstra at UT-AustinAt the University of Texas at Austin, Our founder Gerardo Lopez, had the privilege of learning from Edsger Dijkstra, one of the pioneers in computer science. His innovative practices in structured programming laid the foundation for what would later be known as software engineering.

1973-August 1974: Experimenting at the Molecular Ray Beam Lab
During this period, Gerardo worked at the Molecular Ray Beam Lab, applying and consolidating learnings from Dijkstra. This hands-on experience was crucial in understanding the practical applications of structured programming.

September 1974 - 1982: Applying UT Learning in Mexico
Working for a multinational conglomerate in Mexico, Gerardo applied the knowledge from UT and collaborated with experts like David Parnas and Tom De Marco. Developed numerous successfull enterprise-level software applications, achieving top quality standards in Mexico and Latin America.

1978: Developing SWET Training MaterialsDevelopment of training materials such as "Software Engineering Techniques Applied to Programming" (SWET-P) to train engineers in our unique set of engineering practices. These materials were fundamental in spreading our methodologies across major corporations in Mexico.

1983 - 2001: Founding Softtek and Expanding Engineering PracticesGerardo founded Softtek, to undertook demanding projects like the "Sistema de Ahorro para el Retiro" (SAR) and collaborated with IBM on the "Procesar" project. The continuous improvement in software engineering techniques led to significant achievements and industry recognition for raising standards.

2002 - 2010: Founding Towa and Embracing New MethodologiesGerardo founded Towa with the ambitious goal of becoming the leading software development excellence company globally. Adapting to new design patterns such as Object-Oriented Programming and Agile methodologies, continuously evolving the software engineering techniques and training bootcamps.

2011 - 2019: Engineering Warrior Training and Advanced Training InitiativesOur trademark 3-weeks intensive "Engineering Warrior Training" program was designed to achieve Six Sigma quality in software. Training over 700 professionals, we continuously improved coding standards and introduced advanced training modules.
